Private Tequila Tasting & Great Meal
We made advance reservations for a private tequila tasting and dinner with our group of 6. It was a splurge, but one of the highlights of our entire trip. So much fun and absolutely delicious. 100% recommend!
3 for the Win
We had three different experiences at Javi’s:
1. We went to Javi’s Tequila Class. We got to not only sample several different tequilas, Javi also masterfully paired each with different fruits and vegetables to highlight the various flavor notes. We learned some history and technical info about tequila while enjoying Javi’s humor, warmth, and passion for food, drink, and music.
2. We ate dinner. The food was fantastic as was the live music in the dining room.
3. We came back the next night for Javi’s Chef’s Table. This wonderful dining experience on the upper patio featured a number of courses (appetizers, main dishes, and dessert) and included drinks throughout the evening. Javi demonstrated the making of each dish and drink, and one lucky person (each dish) got to consume his creation, and his gracious staff served everyone else the same meal prepared in his kitchen.
Javi, his wife Marla, and their staff are fantastic hosts. The food and drinks are great, and they will make you glad you visited!
WOW Tequila Tasting
Wow, we just experienced a tequila tasting at Javi’s tonight . This is the third one I’ve been to in Mexico, and this tops them all. We had some great tequila, learned a lot about the different kinds of tequila , and got a great insight on what pits with each type. Well worth the money !
Then we had a wonderful meal in the courtyard. Definitely a 5 star experience.

MUST DO!
We had the best time at the tequila class and dinner afterwards was amazing! Javi was great! We had so much fun learning about mezcal and tequila! We told them to surprise us with dinner and we were not disappointed! They served us a fabulous salad with shrimp and a lobster bisque. The pineapple margarita and hibiscus infused tequila were superb! Don’t miss out!
A very enjoyable evening!
We did not actually go to the restaurant, however Javi came directly to our casa and we had a private tequila tasting and dinner through Dinnertainment. I would highly recommend! The tequila tasting was very well done, very informative….and tasty! Javi then catered a meal for us and provided background music. The food was fantastic and we loved the music. We had one person in our party who has quite a few food intolerances and they worked around these wonderfully so all could enjoy. Javi is entertaining and very professional.
Food, Music and Teaching
I had an excellent experience at Javi’s Cantina starting with the food in an interior patio with live music. But the best thing was a tequila class and tasting that they offered us, where they took us through the history of tequila and how to best experience it. 100% recommended for a real Mexican experience of good quality and taste.
